Internship Site Description
Self Space is a group therapy practice with 2 locations in downtown Seattle and Kirkland, offering psychotherapy services to adults, adolescents, kids and couples. The practice is currently composed of ~35 therapists who see a variety of clients, working from a variety of modalities and areas of expertise. At Self Space, we believe therapy is first and foremost a relationship with an open, non-judgmental professional with whom you can safely share your whole self. Self Space offers an internship for masters level students who are looking to gain experience in counseling in a private practice setting, focused on building long term clinical relationships. Interns gain practical experience to complement academic theory, training and guidance under supervision that fulfills state licensure requirements. Surrounded by clinicians who practice from many different modalities, interns have access to seeing how many different people conceptualize therapy. Interns build to working with 12 clients weekly who benefit from low cost therapy services. Students will gain experience in clinical application, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and exploration of transference/countertransference. Students also receive career mentorship to help launch them into the profession successfully after graduation.
Interns will receive:
Clinical supervision 1x/week
Self Space case consult 1x/week
Bi-weekly intern-only case consult
Quarterly In-depth clinical trainings specific to intern development
Ongoing clinical trainings on a variety of topics
Quarterly mentorship
Internship duties will include:
Managing a caseload of 12 clients (adult, adolescent and child individuals & couples)
Note-taking, scheduling and billing for those clients
Attending supervision, case consult, and trainings; this may include filming and transcription of portions of session for presentation
