Fees

  • Our therapists’ fees are dependent upon experience and range from $150-$190 for individual therapy and $170-$210 for couples therapy. You can find each therapist's fee on their individual bio page. Meet our therapists >

We also offer low cost therapy, run via our clinical internship program. All appointment fees for both individual and couples’ therapy are $90/session. Learn more about low cost therapy >

  • Your credit card will be taken when you schedule a session and this card will be charged automatically at midnight the evening after each session. You can also pay using an HSA card.

Each month, we can also provide you with monthly statements called Superbills which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Many insurance plans reimburse people 40%-80% of the cost of Out-of-Network therapy, but insurance plans differ in terms of both rate of reimbursement as well as the process for submitting Superbills for reimbursements. To learn more about your specific benefits and Superbill reimbursement processes, contact your insurance provider.

  • We are Out-of-Network with all insurance companies. We provide you with a monthly statement (called a Superbill) which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. We have found that many insurance plans will reimburse 40%-80% of the cost of Out-of-Network therapy.

To determine your Out-of-Network mental health coverage, call your provider and ask the following questions:

    • What are my mental health benefits?

    • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?

    • How many therapy sessions does my plan cover?

    • How much does my insurance pay for an Out-of-Network provider?

    • Is approval required from my primary care physician?

  • Self Space is out-of-network with insurance carriers for a variety of reasons:

You are free to seek treatment from any therapist that you choose without being required to obtain a referral or any pre-authorizations from your primary care physician.

You are able to attend therapy for as many sessions as you want, whereas “in-network” therapy can be limited to a particular number of sessions.

Both your medical history and any mental health diagnoses are kept confidential. Being “in-network” would mean that we would be required to hand over your confidential treatment information to the insurer, and we understand that confidentiality is key to therapy and we respect your options for privacy.

Being “in-network” would also mean many hours of unpaid paperwork each week for our clinicians, and for a lower fee.

It is important to note that many insurance plans will reimburse 40% - 80% of the cost of Out-of-Network therapy, and some even fully cover the cost of therapy sessions. We can easily provide you with a monthly statement (called a Superbill) which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

  • According to the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

You will receive detailed information about the cost of each therapy session in the Disclosure Statement you sign at the beginning of therapy. This statement outlines the cost of each session you attend, and also notes that services are expected to be provided weekly until treatment is terminated. You can also ask your health care provider for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an appointment.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
