Group Therapy
Working Moms Therapeutic Support Group (6 weeks)
October 1, 2019 - November 7, 2019
Being a working mom—especially a mom in a demanding career—can often feel like you’re being pulled in multiple directions. You face a unique set of challenges that can feel isolating and frustrating, both at work and at home. Researchers refer to this combination of pressures as “the triple bind” in which working moms are expected to be everything to everyone: loving reliable mothers, professionally successful members of the workforce (who, by the way, aren’t bossy or intimidating), and supportive partners, friends, and daughters. For many women, this journey is a lonely one, filled with questions about how we measure up, what our roles are at work and at home, fears of failure in any or all arenas, whether that elusive concept of “balance” is even possible, and what any of this means for our identity and sense of self.
This therapy group provides a safe space to address these issues and more within a community of women facing similar challenges. The goal is to help each of the group members process their various experiences, find support in community, and learn from the new perspectives and insights that arise within the group. The focus of the sessions will be determined by the needs of the members. Group size will be kept small to make sure that each member has time to participate and to be heard.
