Welcome! Congratulations on taking another step on the path toward seeing yourself and others with more clarity. I trust in your vision for what you want life to look like, and I will walk by your side to support you in bringing that vision to life. I think compassionate curiosity and authenticity are our greatest strengths in the therapeutic space, and I have found healing power in finding ways to laugh about incredibly serious things.

I work with individuals and couples who are motivated to better understand themselves and their roles in their important relationships. My clients are typically adults 18+ from all backgrounds and orientations. Many clients who work with me  are experiencing anxiety, depression, ambiguity or apathy in decision-making; roadblocks in communication and intimacy; substance misuse; or the impacts of trauma. I have a particular interest in men’s issues and masculinity, grief and loss, high-functioning anxiety, and perfectionism.

My style is intentional, client-centered, and tailored to fit each individual’s unique personality, challenges, and goals. My practice is largely informed by my graduate psychodynamic education which stressed intersectionality and multicultural competence. I also draw from the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to explore values and achieve confidence and clarity, Internal Family Systems (IFS) to explore the various parts of self, and Narrative Therapy to explore accepted stories of self and work to empower re-authoring of desired futures. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and find it to be a powerful tool in healing trauma wounds. With couples, I draw heavily from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and systems theories to explore attachment and the impact of the people and communities that surround us, and then work to improve relational empathy and intimacy in all its forms. I find truth, hope, and joy in all forms of art (including television and film), and I often pull relevant themes into our sessions.

My path to Self Space was nonlinear. I grew up in Maryland and spent my early years imagining working in medicine or law. My childhood ambitions led me to Vanderbilt University to study engineering, economics, and math, but what I learned inspired me to alter course and take a stab at climbing the corporate ladder. I often draw from my experience in strategy consulting and my journey to finding balance and meaning amidst life’s competing priorities–the journey that ultimately led me to complete my Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University-and begin work as a therapist.

I am my most joyous self near mountains and water, and I try to maximize the time I spend hiking or backpacking in new (to me) natural environments. I like to cook and experiment with new recipes but I like eating delicious food someone else made a lot more. On weeknights, I am typically cozied up on the couch with my partner and dogs binging feel-good ensemble comedies, British crime dramas, and a little bit of everything in between. I find myself most often reading fantasy, science-fiction, and humor, and I have a robust stack of unread self-help and therapy books on my nightstand just like you.
